Indian Rummy, also known as Paplu, is a very popular variation of rummy that is played in India. The game is a crossover of gin rummy and rummy 500. It is quite similar to the regular games of rummy with subtle differences. There is a belief that Indian Rummy originated from the South Asian rummy called Rhuk. Indian Rummy is totally legal in India because it is a game that requires skills instead of luck. There are many online sites in India where rummy is available for playing. If you are willing to make money playing this really fun game, you need to familiarize yourself with the game.

Indian Rummy is very similar to the usual rummy game, and you can have a good idea about it when you see our guide of the regular rummy game. There are 13 cards dealt to each player of the game. For two-player, two decks of cards are used. If there are more than two players, then using three decks becomes necessary. At least three cards need to be used to make a valid sequence. A valid sequence can be the cards of the same suit with a consecutive value. For example, if you have three cards of hearts with the value of 4, 5 and 6, you have made a valid sequence. Another valid sequence can be the same value of cards from different suits. For example, if you have a king card from 3 or 4 different suits, you have made a valid sequence.

There are subtle differences between the usual rummy and Indian Rummy. The very first difference that you will notice is the number of cards. Indian Rummy gives 13 cards to each player while the usual rummy deals ten cards per player. Some rummy games do not use the joker like gin rummy. But, in Indian Rummy, you can substitute any card with the joker.

Indian Rummy takes a longer time to finish, unlike the usual rummy game. Because there are only ten cards that are dealt with in a usual rummy like the gin rummy, on the other hand, 13 cards are distributed to each player in an Indian Rummy game. Another difference is that gin rummy can be finished when a player has become successful with the process of going gin or knocking. On the other hand, in a game of Indian Rummy, one has to show a valid sequence for winning.

Be thoughtful of the colours : In an Indian Rummy game, there are 52 cards that are used for the game. Half of them are black (clubs and spades), and the other half is red (diamond and hearts). After you receive your 13 cards, you need to count how many black and red cards you have. After that, you can make a guess of your opponent’s cards. For example, if you have more than eight black cards, your opponents may have a larger quantity or red cards. As a result, you do not want to spare any red cards because those may be useful to the opponent. After four moves, you can discard your card.

Make sure that you don’t mix the colours : You will likely have both black and red coloured cards. You need to organize them in a manner in which black and reds are separated. After that, you can organize the cards according to your suits and make a move.

Make the best use of the joker : In Indian Rummy, the joker is the most useful card. Why? It can be a replacement of any cards and will help you make a valid sequence. But one thing to remember is that you should not use a joker for any set of cards. Go for the highest value because that’s where the joker belongs.

Discards carefully :One of the best tips is to discard cards so that you do not have a useless card on your deck. Professional players always discard the cards they do not need. A smart move is to discard a card of high value like the king and queen. You should also discard duplicate cards that will hamper your ways of getting the best sequence. If your run consists of duplicate cards, you will not win with it.

Drop the game when needed : Indian Rummy may depend on your luck greatly. So if you have gotten a bad set of cards and also not finding anything good from the discard pile, you can always drop the game instead of watering a rootless tree. While playing online, pay attention to the rules about dropping a game, in case you want to quit.
